"Just act normal."

Neal felt the hand slide onto his arm even as the words found his ear. He adjusted his pace, let Auggie tell him with his fingers when he was ready to move. "How'd you know it was me?" Neal asked softly.

"I just did."

Auggie was clearly nervous, his cane clicking the pavement as they moved through the crowd. "I need your eyes."

"Tell me what I'm looking for." Neal responded, his eyes scanning around them. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

"I was supposed to meet a contact, a woman. She didn't show and my spotter went silent."

"Okay, where are we going?" Neal instinctively pulled Auggie closer as the crowd closed in around them, all thoughts of his own purpose in the museum gone for the moment.

"Can we get out of this crowd?"

"Sure, hold tight." He moved them around a group headed inside on a guided tour, getting them past the worst of the crowd and down the sidewalk to a small cafe. As they passed an alley, Neal eased them into the shadows, securing Auggie against the wall while he checked around them.

When he didn't move away, Auggie leaned in to whisper in his ear. "I think we're alone now."

Neal pressed his mouth to Auggie's ear. "Can't be too careful. We should maintain our cover."

He could feel Auggie's smile on the skin of his cheek. "What cover is that?"

"Two guys, stealing a kiss in a dark alley." Neal murmured, letting his lips move slowly toward Auggie's mouth.

Their lips brushed together, just a tease of a kiss. Auggie's phone rang and Neal groaned, stepping back as Auggie answered it. "No, I'm safe. First alley, just past the café. Okay."

"Duty calls." Neal said.

"Duty calls." He slipped his phone back into his pocket and when his hand came out again he pressed something into Neal's hand.

He looked down at what looked suspiciously like the key to Auggie's apartment. "You inviting me over?"

Auggie grinned. "Pick up some dinner on your way."

"What time you going to be home?" Neal asked as Auggie got himself turned around, his hand feeling for the corner.

"Give me a few hours." He paused and grinned at Neal again. "Oh, and…see about picking up some handcuffs."

Neal chuckled. "Yeah, okay, but it's my turn to cuff you."

"If you think you can." Auggie said, starting back down the hall.

"I like a challenge!" Neal called after him. Auggie lifted a hand to wave.

Neal looked down at the key, smirking. His plans for the painting could wait.
