A Rare, Non-Fic posting

amara_m, my main journal, but realized that some of my writerly & graphics type friends might not see it there, so thought I'd add it here too. If you get it twice, I apologize.
Next Wednesday (Sept 13th), I will be 38 years old. That doesn't seem possible.
For the last five years (maybe longer), my birthdays seem to just get all fucked up. Plans fall through, presents get misdirected, etc...I'm ready for that to change.
I started by putting any and all expectations aside. I have no momentous plans, and expect a fairly quiet day.
I have a request to make to my friends list though to take this one step further.

I hope that doesn't come across as too whiny or needy. I guess it is...to some degree, but I'm okay with that. How can anyone help you if you don't let them know what it is you need, right?
