Thus begins a mystery that will stretch the already thin resources of the Winchester boys to their limits...and may break more than one of them before the end.

Fair warning that the topic of that conversation was what situations either of us could conceivably actually slash Castiel with either of the boys....so while this has not yet gone to a slashy place, it very well may andso, Lucifer takes the stage, and that leads to sex of the not entirely consensual As to warnings for this part? More whumpage, non-con, memories of violence and rape.

( Balthazar wasn’t entirely wrong, of course. They would be better getting the hell out, but he couldn’t see a clean way of doing that. Not without sacrificing Castiel…and while Dean was still angry with the bastard for the lying and spying, there was no way he was going to turn him over for what would likely be even worse torture than Castiel had already been through. )

Summary: This picks up at the begining of "Family Remains" and runs through "On the Head of a Pin", where it finally diverges completely from canon. John Winchester never was very good at following someone else's plan when he has other ideas, and his boys are still his boys, even though he's not quite himself.

Warnings: For eboniorchid who is an amazing woman and for varkelton as a belated happy birthday. This is maybe the darkest thing I've ever written, and those of you who have read my work know I don't say these things lightly. This at the very least rivals the "P!Verse"...in some ways it goes darker places than that. There is rape/non-con, dub-con, there is torture, both physical and mental. All three Winchesters go to very dark places in this. This began as a Dean in hell piece, and then followed very loosely through season 4, until it went its own way.

( It had been a almost a month since the incident in the graveyard, since Dean told him about hell. Since Dean kept him from taking out a demon, because that demon used to be their father. )

A/Ns: This is my fic offering for the pictures2words challenge. I found the art intriguing, but finding my way into the story it told took me quite a while. Eventually though I found a way in...and it was all down hill from there.
