So...This was put together partially as a depository for factoids I needed to keep straight...but offered here as an "it might be useful to know" type of thing. There are spoilers though...so be aware before you follow the clicky.
Keeper!Verse Facts
At the end of “My Brother’s Keeper, the Winchesters stay in Lawrence.
Dean and Dana move into an apartment and Sam stays with them for a short time, before he leaves to see what can be salvaged of his old life.
John and Dean run a small garage, which they purchase when Dana is around 2.
The connection between Sam and Dana can be shut down form either end, but before the spot in “Hunter Becoming Hunted” when Sam lets it go, it is never gone.
Dana sees Sam more clearly than anyone else, and accepts him, scars, flaws and all, and that alone is something Sam has never had.
Dean and Sam are together. John finds out about the time Dana is three, shortly before “Only for You”…It contributes to the ongoing discomfort between him and Sam for a while.
When Dana is 9, Sam and Dean buy a house in Lawrence, Kansas, not far from the house where Mary died. This is also the time when John buys Sam a chocolate lab, which Dana christens Aristotle, despite the dog being female. Dean had said Dana couldn’t have a dog, but Sam always wanted one…so Dana convinces Papa Winchester to get the puppy for Sam for his birthday.
Sam specifics:
Sam was routinely raped and beaten from the time he was 13 until he was 17. After that he had a little more control over when and who used his body, and became the sexual predator we see in “My Brother’s Keeper” in order to reclaim some control over his life.
The first and most frequent abuser was the man who raised him, usually while possessed.
The scars on his body from the incident at 16 run from his face to his hip. There are two claw marks on the right side of his face, the longest one starts an inch and a half from his nose. The second on is an inch further from the nose. Both run off his cheek. There are several scars that go up behind his right ear. The worst scars are in his shoulder, where several Harriers sank claws to hold him in place while they raped him, and on his side, along the ribs. His arm and hip are also affected and there is scaring on both legs from other incidents.
Sam wears a leather band around his right wrist which binds a glamour over the arm and side, hiding the scars. He takes it off for Dean.
The incident at 16 nearly killed Sam, and was the driving force behind his own pact with the demon. He spent 4 months in the care of demon possessed doctors to recover, and as a result wants nothing to do with doctors or hospitals.
Several of the Harrier demons involved in the abuse of Sam were long term companions, they lived in the house and were used to punish him frequently. One of them used John’s voice because it amused him…which contributes to Sam’s distrust of his father.
Sam’s powers were held in check and repressed by the demon that killed Mary Winchester, in an effort to control him after the demon realized that on his own Sam was entirely too powerful to be allowed any measure of control (Sam doesn’t realize this is the reason).
After coming back to Dean and Dana in “Home” Sam works odd jobs and does some hunting, both with John or Dean and alone. He engages in a few activities his family might not approve of, but keeps them well away from them.
Eventually, around the time Dana is 9, Sam goes to work for a book store that specializes in hard to locate texts and antique books. He travels frequently for them.
Dana Specifics:
Dana is Dean’s daughter by way of Cassie. She is a gifted Seer, who was kidnapped by demons in order to make her a vessel for a higher order demon.
Sam’s blood was used to activate her power.
Sam forges a connection with Dana when she is still an infant, with the help of Missouri, in order to defeat a demon who is trying to claim Dana.
Dana is more powerful even than Sam, mostly due to the way her powers were activated, though Sam and Missouri try to help her grow into them naturally, blocking some of them until she is old enough to understand.
When Sam let’s the connection break in “Hunted” those repressed powers break loose, which combined with puberty make Dana a dangerous little dynamo.
Dana has a lot of Dean’s personality traits. She’s hard to make afraid and she’s highly intelligent. She’s good at school, but doesn’t really see the point of it, since she can read any knowledge she wants from those around her if she wants to. She obeys the rules, mostly, keeps out of the minds of others without invitation or provocation…but isn’t above fighting dirty to keep her family safe.
In many ways, Dana is like Sam and Dean combined into one little female body.
