An apology & explanation
Dec. 11th, 2010 11:07 amI have not been my usually posty self this year, and I apologize. Life outside the internet has been an explosion of travel and work and more travel and writing things that aren't getting posted here (working on getting another original novel out by year's end).
So, the travel has largely been about seeing the Kane boys play. I've had the privilege of making every show within my travel radius this year, aside from the Oregon State fair gigs. It has been wonderful and I've met a lot of awesome and amazing people as a result.
I've also gone to Arizona to visit
raggedy_edge and my dad, plus Vegas with
raggedy_edge and
canadiangoddess.
And travel isn't over. I leave on Friday for Tucson, AZ and Phoenix. It will be a weekend of mixed Kane show, family and friends. Of course, because I'm traveling my payroll department chose this week's check to screw up...so I'm a little bit anxious about making it work. (check that, I'm completely freaked out about it, if I'm being honest) I need a second job to support my travel habit. Or for the writing to pay more than it does right now.
Add to the traveling the situation with Emily and her wee son Nathan, and I've been insanely occupied. Emily is a joy though, and her son, while incredibly wee, is a sweet baby. I am pleased and humbled at how many of my "friends" have come through to help her get a fresh start on her life.
So many people I have never met who have been kind and generous with donations of food, clothing, furniture, money and gift cards. They have a rough road ahead of them...but they're off to a good start.
There is so much I meant to do this year that fell by the wayside. Stories to write, places to see, ideas to explore.
One of the things I am working hard on is the release of "In Noble Pursuit"...which I hope to have out early next year on Dark Roast Press. Currently it is in the hands of my continuity & story beta, then it will be submitted to the publisher's editor.
Also in that arena is the anthology of short stories I am heading up. The proceeds will go to help support Emily and her son. Deadline is the fifteenth of December, though I may push it out a little as I haven't even written my story for it. If you want to submit something for it, let me know and I'll point you to the guidelines.
On the fanfic front, I have three stories on my plate at the moment, from the
dollars4dreams auction for Emily. One of those should be done this weekend, another before I head to Phoenix, and the last will be sometime after that.
Bribes for more of something, or for something new are always welcome and can take the form of many things, including charitable donations to causes I care about, graphics for my journal, gifts of a more tangible nature (I do have a wishlist on Amazon...just saying), even fic you write for me. I love getting fun things...and more than that I love giving things that make people happy.
Now, with that said...I should get to work on some writing.
